Chanel

The experience of running a marathon is rewarding in and of itself, but I'd be lying if I said there weren't times - especially during training - when some extrinsic motivation helped. I got a raise (with back pay!) last fall and have been holding off on a splurge until I crossed the finish line in Toronto.

My wife frequently rewards herself with shoes and purses. For Mother's Day last year, I built her an entire "shoe closet" for storing all that stuff! I think she'd be very jealous of your new bag.

I share your philosophy! My first marathon =first Louis vuitton. It's amazing how motivating a little designer can be. Although you blew this out of the water. How will you ever be motivated again when you already have the holy grail!!??

Courtney, too funny! Gaby, yep - I put it on layaway right before the race but didn't pay for the rest until I had crossed the finish line! Matt, what woman wouldn't want a shoe closet? Incredible! Jess, I know - and it's only slightly larger than that medal!

Spiffy, rewards will have to be of the non-bag variety from here on out, because I vowed never to buy another purse after this one!

Sweet Laundry, when someone comments on the bag, I can't help myself - I say "this was my reward for my third marathon." You're right - it will forever be linked with it!

J&l, J&G, Melissa, Olivia, Jill and Natalie, thank you for your kind words about the marathon.
