Score: cups & saucers (and a new table)

I wrote about my difficulty finding white-rimmed, brown ceramic dishware back in October. Instead of scouring the internet, I should have looked in my own backyard. Bowery Kitchen in Chelsea Market had them! Now I don't need to go to Maialino for coffee in my favorite cups.

In related news, we now actually have a place to enjoy breakfast, because I happened to check Craigslist yesterday for rustic farm tables (another one of my seemingly futile searches). Lo and behold, a beautiful specimen had been listed the day before in nearby Gowanus. In a matter of hours, Shawn had checked it out, put a deposit down, and then had it delivered (for free!) as a surprise waiting for me when I walked in the door from work. Persistence paid off - I insisted on waiting for the perfect table, and I'm glad I didn't settle. We got this one for a song (much like the bar cart I scored at the Brooklyn Flea last fall).

Nice! I dream of having a real kitchen table. I have been dining at my coffee table for several years now! From the picture yours looks beautiful.

Hope you are having a great week!

I want to see a full pic of said rustic table! I bet it is amazing. What a great husband of yours to surprise you!

Daina, we had been using our coffee table too! The other day when we were rearranging furniture we decided to repurpose the coffee table as a record player stand...but we realized pretty quickly that this meant we'd be balancing plates on our laps, which wasn't going to cut it!

Rachel, here's a quick shot of the table - I think it's the first picture in this album (can you see it?): https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.549173160694.2123968.27314634&type=3&l=6af81fe632

What a gorgeous table. I checked out the full view of it on your Facebook link above. I especially like the crossbars (is that what they are called?)

My father is a great carpenter, I'm hoping he can make me something like this for my next apartment! Can't be too hard, right?
