You Can't Touch This (HarMar Time)

I first saw Har Mar Superstar in Chicago when he opened for the Strokes (boy, did that just date me or what?). His schtick includes peeling off layers of clothing til he's down to his briefs and asserting throughout his set how brilliant he is. I quickly went from "WTF?" to admiration: this is the voice of Stevie Wonder inhabiting the body of Ron Jeremy. He's not too shabby on the dance floor either (if the transformation from frizzed-out fro to soaking-wet mop is any indication). And he's a master wordsmith:

Last night (my third Har Mar show) he converted a very doubtful crowd at the Mercury Lounge. (He did not fare so well in Indianapolis, when I last saw him - the audience remained aghast til the sweaty, pasty end). If he swings through your neck of the woods on his current tour, you simply must go (just bring a rain poncho if you're near the stage).
